The things you hold to be “true” can imprison you for a lifetime…
Today Tiger Woods made a public appearance on almost every network. This commentary is not to bash Mr. Woods on what he did or did not do. I only want to make one observation about the interview.
At one point Tiger remarked, “It’s not what you achieve that matters….It’s what you overcome…” How profound! It’s what you overcome!
So many of us are caught up in the “rat race.” We keep spinning our wheels, going up and down, back and forth, over and over….day after day, year after year. And it seems like we get nowhere! We’re stuck!
Oftentimes the reason we’re stuck is because of an intangible “barrier” in our minds that keeps us tangled up. And the barrier more than likely was put there by someone close to us. Someone who “loved us.” Someone who told us that we’ll never be able to reach our dream, that we’re too short, too tall, too dumb, a wiseass… Always not enough or too much…
It’s time to put this to rest forever? Listen to me closely:
“You Are Who You Say You Are”
To be who you say you are, you’re going to have to overcome the voices screaming in your head that no one else can hear. The voices that try to tell you who you are. They may scream loudly but you don’t have to listen.
Instead tell yourself constantly who you are. Create the “perfect you” and begin to act like the person that you envision. Be that perfect you. Some people call it “faking it “till you make it.”
You can overcome the voices of disbelief in your past by speaking greatness into your future. Identify the obstacles that keep you from being all that you should be. And be very critical in your self analysis. This is the 1st step towards personal liberation.
